General Info

Schmiddis Café, located at Eisenstuckstraße 17, 01069 Dresden, Germany, is the kind of café that feels welcoming from the moment you step inside. During my visit, I found it to be a relaxed spot where guests can enjoy good food, quality drinks, and a comfortable atmosphere without any unnecessary fuss. Whether you are looking for a casual break, a family-friendly place, or a cozy corner to enjoy coffee, this café offers an experience that feels genuine and approachable.

One of the first things that stood out on the menu was the selection of sweet treats. The Waffeln Mit Schokoladensauce Und Schokoladeneis was especially enjoyable, combining warm waffles with rich chocolate sauce and smooth chocolate ice cream. It is the type of dessert that feels satisfying without being overly complicated. Another highlight was the Erdbeereisbecher, which provided a refreshing and fruity option for visitors who enjoy classic ice cream creations.

Coffee lovers will appreciate the Cappuccino served here. It paired perfectly with a slice of Mohnkuchen, creating a pleasant afternoon café experience. The cake offered a comforting texture and flavor, making it easy to see why it attracts positive reviews from regular guests. Small details like these contribute to the café’s welcoming reputation among locals and visitors exploring nearby locations in Dresden.

For those seeking something more filling, the Cilli Con Carne is a notable choice among the prepared foods available. It adds variety to the menu and gives guests the option of enjoying a hearty meal rather than just coffee and dessert. The café also provides vegan options, making it easier for people with different dietary preferences to find something suitable.

The atmosphere remains relaxed and family-friendly throughout the day. Being good for kids makes Schmiddis Café a convenient choice for parents looking for a comfortable place to spend time together. There is also a bar onsite, adding another layer of flexibility to the dining experience. Guests should note that the café operates on a cash-only basis, so planning ahead is helpful before visiting.

What I appreciated most was how natural the experience felt. Nothing seemed rushed, and the combination of friendly service, enjoyable menu selections, vegan options, and inviting surroundings created a café visit that was easy to enjoy. Schmiddis Café offers a pleasant setting for coffee, dessert, prepared foods, and relaxed moments in the heart of Dresden.

What customers say?

“ Love this little gem of a café. Food is cheap and good. Catering to the nearby uni clientele. You can sit in or outside and there's a little bookshelf with reading material and some puzzles. Great friendly service. ”

“ This is a very relaxing, warm and cozy coffee bar. The coziness is not just indoors, but also outdoors, where you can enjoy your cup of coffee or an ice cream in the lovely green area in front of the Café. I also appreciate its management; despite arriving just 15 mins before the closing time, the one who I think is the owner was welcoming and didn't put any pressure to leave. I also noticed they use fresh fruits, which I believe not everyone does. Finally I fully recommend this lovely place, their cakes and cappuccino too. Their waffles are the tastiest I've had so far in Germany! The Flammkuchen and soup are really tasty and feel like homemade. ”

“ Family cafe with delicious meals, cakes and waffles. This is truly a hidden gem in the south part of the city. Visited mostly by locals who either work or live close by. They cook home made meals every day and charge very fair prices for lunch. Definetely try the Flammkuchen. The only thing I can point out as a problem are the opening hours. Sadly it's not open on the weekends and also closes early. ”
